Position 1: Senior Driver, JG 3

Location: Tigray Region, Mekelle
ChildFund Office: Ethiopia
Manager/ Supervisor title: Snr. Coordinator, Tigray Program Area
Position type: Full-time fixed term
Work environment: On-site

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Provide transport service to ChildFund staff and visitors as instructed during working hours or out of working hours as may be required
  • Transports ChildFund staff and guests to and from the field and in Addis Ababa as assigned
  • Meets and assists visitors/staff on arrival and departure as required
  • Takes responsibility for the safety of the vehicle assigned tools and accessories
  • Ensures that the vehicle kept clean and useable at all times
  • Checks Oil, Fuel, Water, Tires, Brakes and other electrical systems before starting driving the car
  • Follows up maintenance need of the vehicle and promptly reports back to immediate supervisor
  • Makes sure that she/he drives within the speed limits set by ChildFund and according to the Country traffic regulations
  • Makes sure to wear seat belt and always asks and make sure that her/his passengers wear seat belt
  • Ensures validity of her/his driving license
  • Assists in the distribution of mails to and from other organizations when assigned
  • Assists in collecting mails to and from the post office DHL etc
  • Handle liaising and procurement works with Government Offices and other organizations
  • Reports accidents timely to her/his immediate supervisor
  • Maintain the daily vehicle log sheet by legibly recording at all trip times, mileage and destinations.

 

Required Experience and Education

  • Five years and above experience and 3rd grade driving license are required.
  • Good spoken English
  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Willingness to work under pressure and possible long working hours
  • Basic mechanical skill to be able to handle assigned vehicle
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS

Position 2: Specialist Sr., Grants Writer

This is a remote, full-time, open-ended position that is open to internal candidates in any of ChildFund’s locations. External candidates with current work authorization and residence in one of our country office locations will be considered: Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, The Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Thailand, The Gambia, Uganda, and Zambia.

To be considered, please submit a resume and writing sample in English. The writing sample should consist of a 2-page excerpt of a proposal or concept note which the applicant has drafted.

Required Experience and Education

  • University degree in a relevant discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 6 years of grants acquisition experience with foundations and corporate donors and/or with UN, multilateral and bilateral donors from the United States, Global North, and Global South.
  • Experience with grants acquisition for European Union and European governments is preferred.
  • Significant experience with proposal writing; full-time proposal writing experience preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate funding opportunities for suitability and organizational competitiveness, sharing findings with colleagues and advising on appropriate steps for the organizations.
  • Lead proposal preparation, collaborating with diverse teams to develop and refine proposals until they are compliant and competitive based on donor guidelines.
  • Provide advice and guidance to proposal teams seeking technical support on specific aspects of proposal development.
  • Develop and deliver training to colleagues regarding proposal development.
  • Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks; acquire relevant knowledge and skills to enable you to understand the safeguarding policy and procedures; promote strong safeguarding practices; perform your duty and responsibility to safeguard, report violations, and promote appropriate behavior; and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the organization’s policies and values.

Position 3:Specialist, Safety and Security

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Develop, monitor and review country security risk management plans.
  • Ensure risk assessments for all new project and program areas are conducted.  This includes awareness of expansion plans and proactively communicating needs early enough to help inform decision-making.
  • Review existing strategies and advise on corrective action.
  • Monitors the political, economic, and social context and informs leadership of developments on a regular basis.
  • Strive to ensure safe access to project areas while maintaining security measures.
  • Proactively support the integration of security into the operations so that administration and programs are strengthened and not hindered.
  • Executes journey management assessments for all domestic trips.
  • Actively promote a culture of incident sharing and risk management.
  • Deliver constant and productive support to all staff.
  • Execute high quality and interactive training (i.e., risk assessments, SOP implementation, etc.) aligned with the global strategy and training criteria.
  • Communicate foreseeable and present security threats to staff and leadership and use escalation protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure threats that could impact ChildFund are being formally communicated accurately, succinctly and timely to leadership, staff and the security department.
  • Responsible for maintaining all notes, logs, and information during critical incidents. Core incident management team contributor.
  • Develops quality briefings, reports, alerts and advisories to various stakeholders (Country Director, staff, global security, visitors, and others).
  • Responsible for safety adherence reviews at all offices (i.e. fire extinguishers, first aid kits, fire drills). Report and record all checks and discrepancies.
  • In collaboration with Administration, ensures the guard force SOP is adhered to in all offices.
  • Facilitate program access through the provision of dependable advice, regular sit-reps, and safety advisories, as needed.
  • Maintains strong network and attends security networking opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of the security focal points through training, coaching and empowerment.
  • Conduct training or drills that support security awareness, standard operating procedures, contingency plans, and other requested areas.
  • In consultation with Sr. Manager, organize capacity building sessions of security focal points through training, coaching and close collaboration with field leadership.
  • Develop and conduct training and drills that support security awareness, standard operating procedures, contingency plans, emergency response and on other needed topics.

 

Required Experience and Education

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Amharic fluency required.
  • Able to travel to all regions in the country 40% of the time.  Occasional international travel may be requested.
  • Diploma or University degree in a related field with a minimum of four years of working experience in security/ risk management with a non-governmental organization or other international organization.
  • Able to work in a matrix reporting structure.
