Position 1: Oxygen Plant Operator
Job Summary:
The Oxygen Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining oxygen production equipment to ensure the continuous and efficient supply of medical-grade oxygen. The Operator is also responsible to control fractionating columns, compressors, purifying towers, heat exchangers, and related equipment to extract nitrogen and oxygen from air for industrial and therapeutic use. The incumbent is expected to turn valves in specified sequence to control flow of air through series of units that compress and liquefy it, remove carbon dioxide and impurities, and separate resulting product into nitrogen and oxygen.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Observes pressure, temperature, level, and flow gauges to ensure standard operation;
- Opens valves to transfer liquid or gaseous oxygen through heat exchanger to cool air, to heat and vaporize liquid oxygen, and to store gaseous or liquid oxygen in storage tanks at specified temperature and pressure;
- Tests oxygen for purity and moisture content at various stages of process, using burette and moisture meter;
- Turns valves to transfer compressed oxygen to storage cylinders;
- Cleans and repairs equipment, such as replacing defective valves and removing carbon from valves, using hand tools and air hose;
- Opens valves to convey hot nitrogen through alternate batteries of driers to remove moisture;
- Cleans and refills drier with activated alumina;
- Operates equipment to extract, compress, and liquefy hydrogen from natural gas;
- Monitors equipment performance, adjusting settings as needed and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standard; and ensure optimal operation;
- Adjusts equipment according to test results& process;
- Records gauge readings and test results;
- Conducts regular inspections and maintenance of equipment;
- Handles troubleshoot equipment issues and performs repairs as needed;
- Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards;
- Maintains accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities;
- Coordinates with other team members to ensure the continuous supply of oxygen;
- Submits periodic reports to immediate supervisor;
- Performs similar activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualification and Experience:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Eclectic Electronic with a minimum of 7 years work experience out of 5 years direct work experience in oxygen plant industries.
Competencies:
- Proven expertise in working with oxygen production equipment or similar industrial machinery
- In-depth experience of controlling operations of oxygen plant system
- Software knowledge and skills related to oxygen Operations
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to oxygen production
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Position 2:Acetylene Plant Operator
Job Summary:
The Acetylene Plant Operator is responsible for precision, safety, and efficiency of Acetylene Plant Operation and plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of facilities that generate acetylene gas. Moreover, the Acetylene Plant Operator is responsible to maintain the efficiency and safety of the production process, ensuring the gas meets industry standards for purity and quality. The incumbent is expected to monitor pressure gauges, regulating temperature controls, and adjusting valves to maintain optimal production conditions by conducting regular maintenance and inspection of machinery to prevent leaks or any malfunction that may create hazards.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates and monitors acetylene production equipment;
- Operates safely and maintains equipment for pumping or repackaging gases into cylinders;
- Manages the filling of gas cylinders, ensuring that they are properly labeled, sealed, and stored according to regulatory standards;
- Fills cylinders or containers to proper capacity and accurately maintain cylinder filling records and ensure that all required procedures are followed;
- Uses standard pre-fill and post-fill inspections, tests, and operating procedures before cylinders are released;
- Completes and attach warning and other identification tags, labels and decals to cylinders;
- Handles unloading and loading of cylinders onto delivery trucks using cylinder carts and/or lift gate;
- Monitors pressure gauges, regulating temperature controls, and adjusting valves to maintain optimal production conditions;
- Conducts regular inspection of machinery to prevent leaks or any malfunction that could pose a hazard;
- Handles quality control tests to verify the purity and composition of the produced gas, maintaining detailed records of production data and any issues encountered during the process;
- Adjusts equipment settings to maintain optimal production levels;
- Performs minor maintenance of equipment and inspection of cylinders prior to filling;
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plant machine;
- Maintains compliance with all Specialty, Medical and Food Gas Standard Operating Procedures;
- Inspects regularly and maintains pumping apparatus and associated pressure gauges and monitoring devices used in daily activities;
- Adheres to stringent safety protocols and emergency procedures to mitigate any risks;
- Ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations and procedures;
- Monitors gas levels and quality throughout the production process;
- Calibrates and tests machinery to ensure accurate operation;
- Collaborates with other team members to optimize production efficiency;
- Submits periodic reports to immediate supervisor;
- Performs similar activities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
