International Clinical Laboratories (ICL) is one of the largest independent clinical diagnostic centers on the African continent. ICL opened its door for service in 2004 with the aim of “contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of life throughout Ethiopia” by encompassing a system of human and physical resources designed to meet the changing healthcare needs of the population it serves.

It is the only laboratory accredited by the USA-based Joint Commission International (JCI) five times in a row. The laboratory provides more than 3000 tests in collaboration with its referral laboratories. ICL would like to fill the following vacant positions under the Compliance & Quality Assurance Department for Head office (AA1) by inviting all qualified and competent applicants:

Position 1: Quality Assurance Data Analyst

Required Number: 1 (One)

Report to QA Lead

Employment Status: Permanent

Working Place: Head Office (AA1)

Department: Compliance & Quality Assurance (CQA)

Summary of the job: –

  • Develop and maintain dashboards for real-time monitoring of QMS performance.
  • Analyze audit findings, non-conformances, and corrective actions to identify trends.
  • Support accreditation readiness through data validation and reporting.
  • Ensure data integrity for ISO 15189 and JCI compliance (Clause 8.7).

Travel: Occasional visits to regional labs

About You

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Biostatistics, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
  • 2+ years in data analysis, preferably in healthcare/laboratory quality.
  • Experience with ISO 15189, CAP, or JCI standards (preferred).

Required Skills and Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and analyze quality metrics (KPIs, audit results, EQA/IQC data).
  • Generate monthly/quarterly reports for management reviews (ISO 15189 Clause 8.8).
  • Maintain a centralized database for document control, incidents, and training records.
    • Design Power BI/Excel dashboards to track:
    • Audit completion rates
    • Training compliance
    • Non-conformance trends
    • Turnaround time deviations
  • Validate data for internal/external audits.
  • Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conformances.
  • Ensure alignment with ISO 15189 Clause 8.7 (Evaluation of data).
  • Work with IT to integrate QA data with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • Train QA staff on data interpretation and visualization tools.
  • KPIs:
    • Accuracy and timeliness of reports (100% on schedule).
    • Dashboard usability (feedback from QA team).
    • Compliance with ISO 15189 data requirements.
  • Advanced Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis (SPSS, R, or Python is a plus).
  • Familiarity with LIS/HIS systems and document control software.
  • Strong attention to detail for compliance reporting.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights for non-technical teams.
  • Problem-solving skills for root cause analysis.

  • Develop and implement a document control procedure for all QMS documents (SOPs, forms, manuals).
  • Manage version control, approval workflows, and archiving of documents.
  • Ensure all documents follow the laboratory’s naming and numbering conventions.

About You

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Health Information, or related field.
  • 2+ years in document control, preferably in a medical laboratory or healthcare setting.
  • Experience with ISO 15189, ISO 9001, or similar QMS standards.

Required Skills and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a document control procedure for all QMS documents (SOPs, forms, manuals).
  • Manage version control, approval workflows, and archiving of documents.
  • Ensure all documents follow the laboratory’s naming and numbering conventions.
  • Maintain electronic and physical records (audit reports, training logs, and equipment records).

  • Maintain a master list of controlled documents (updated quarterly).

  • Zero findings in audits related to document management.
    • Timely review and update of critical documents (e.g., SOPs).
  • Train staff on document control processes and compliance requirements.
  • Support departments in creating, reviewing, and approving documents.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for document-related queries.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in document management software (e.g., SharePoint, Q-Pulse, Master Control, etc).
  • Strong organizational and archival skills (both digital and hardcopy).
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical records.
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance with strict documentation standards.
  • Communication skills to train staff and liaise with auditors.
  • Problem-solving to improve document workflows.
