Position: Irrigation Section Head

About the Job

Job Purpose:- The Irrigation Section Head is responsible for leading and overseeing all irrigation-related planning, design, design review, execution, installation, maintenance, and optimization activities within construction projects, including landscaping, agricultural developments, and other related waterworks. This role ensures efficient water demand, water distribution, system reliability, and compliance with engineering standards and environmental regulations. The incumbent will coordinate with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors to integrate irrigation systems into broader civil and landscape works as necessary.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Design Coordination:
  • Develop detailed irrigation designs based on project scope, landscape plans, and water availability.
  • Collaborate with design consultants and civil engineers to integrate irrigation systems with site utilities and structures.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs for irrigation works.
• Execution & Site Supervision:
  • Supervise and manage the installation and commissioning of irrigation systems (e.g., drip, sprinkler, central pivot, or hybrid systems).
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure installation is in accordance with design and quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure adherence to timelines and safety regulations.
• Resource & Budget Management:
  • Estimate materials, labor, and equipment required for irrigation components of projects.
  • Monitor and control project costs related to irrigation and provide progress updates and reports.
  • Approve requisitions and coordinate with procurement for timely material delivery.
• Operations & Maintenance:
  • Establish operation and maintenance procedures for completed irrigation systems.
  • Oversee testing, troubleshooting, & rectification of issues in coordination with the maintenance team.
• Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure compliance with local and national water usage regulations and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including as-built drawings, manuals, permits, and inspection reports.
• Team Leadership:
  • Lead and develop a team of irrigation engineers, foremen, and technicians.
  • Conduct training sessions to enhance technical skills and awareness of new technologies.
• Other duties as directed

About You

Education

• BSc or MSc in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Water Resource Management, or related field.

Experience:

• 7 (Seven) years of experience in irrigation system design/installation, preferably in construction or infrastructure projects.

Skill :-

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in irrigation design software (AutoCAD, GIS, Water CAD),
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pump systems, and water-saving technologies,
• Familiarity with construction standards (e.g., ISO).

Soft Skills:

• Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
• Leadership and communication skills for team/client coordination.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and contracts.
